Check out virtual zoos first then begin lesson sequence.

 

 

 

1.  You will begin with mammals. Last week we did biomes. So as each mammal will be discussed

talk about what biome they may be from.

 

Check out PBS.learning media on Biomes

2. Show BrainPop biomes

and do the quiz with the students as this is type of animal that they will be researching.

3. Then watch Postcards from Africa!

 

 

Week #1 

Introduce Animal Research Project

(using a class list from the notebook next to computer go to the first grade class and use the class list to write down an animal name...Begin with the A's make sure that student has never heard of his/her animal. Make sure it is only a MAMMAL.

3. Go to Livebinder and go to A-Z animals on the tabs. Select animal together. Write student name and name of animal from A-Z animals....must be unique and one they have never heard of....You may select an animal then show picture....Do this student by student...If time allows have students go to computers

4.Students will go to computer and you will walk them step by step to download Animal Research PowerPoint and save to the desktop.

5. You will show Students how to will fill out first two slides with you....

Name of student and name of animal and picture of the animal.

1. What is the appearance? (What does it look like?)

2. What are its characteristics? (What it is like?)

4. What is its habitat? (Where does it live?)

Week #4

5.What is its diet? (What does it eat?)

6. What are three interestings fact? (What is special?)
